World Environment Day and its Importance

 

     World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5th June with the aim to protect our environment. The world Environment Day was first established by United Nations in 1972 in Stockholm to conserve nature. Since 1974 it is celebrated all over the world with a particular theme. 

      In 1974 World Environment Day was hosted by Spokane, UK and the theme for that year was "Only one Earth". In 2018 it was hosted by New Delhi with theme of "Beat Plastic Pollution" to implement a complete ban on single-use plastic by 2022.

      This year World Environment Day is being hosted by Pakistan. The theme for 2021 is "Reimagine.Recreate.Restore." with the main focus on "Ecosystem Restoration".

      We need to realise "Does our responsibility end with the celebration of World Environment Day?". Obviously not. We have to work on 365 days to conserve our nature and make it a beautiful world.
